Dermal-Needling / Collagen Induction Therapy

How does it work?

Dermal-Needling, or CIT, works by inducing bleeding in the skin via hundreds of miniscule needle pricks, pricks so small they’re invisible. A cluster of small needles puncture the upper layer of the epidermis and create micro channels; this boosts the healing power of platelets--and this helps create new collagen and elastic in your skin, diminishing wrinkles and restoring a youthful look. CIT also enables ingredients in skin care products to penetrate up to 10,000 times more effectively than they would through a normal topical application.

What kind of results can I expect?

Recovery after Derma-Needling depends on the length of the needle used. Typically, your skin might be red for 24-48 hours, similar to what you’d experience with a sunburn. It may also feel flushed, tight and itchy for a day or two. After the procedure, It can take between 6-8 weeks before visible signs of skin regeneration are seen, and this improvement will continue over time. Although a single treatment can provide a noticeable outcome, a series of 8-10 CIT treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, is recommended to achieve optimal results.

How frequently do I need treatments?

This is something you will discuss with your esthetician at your initial analysis. Usually, a minimum of 8-10 treatments spaced every 4-6 weeks will be necessary depending on the condition of your skin. Rolling at home in conjunction with this clinical protocol will boosts its effectiveness. If you are currently home rolling, this in-spa treatment will enhance your results.

Does it hurt?

It may be slightly uncomfortable depending on your pain tolerance; however, the numbing cream is designed to alleviate any unpleasant sensations and it really works wonders.

Is it safe?

Yes, absolutely. The procedure carries no risk of scarring or permanent color changes.

What happens after each treatment?

Depending on how aggressive the procedure--the length of the needles used you should expect the area to be warm to the touch, and it may look like a slight sunburn. You can use an ice pack that evening and take some Advil if you find it necessary. In a couple of days there may be slight flaking but again, this also depends on how aggressive the treatment is and it’s a normal feature of healing.

Who should get this service?

Virtually anyone can safely undergo Dermal-Needling, since it’s minimally invasive and doesn’t cause significant wounding of the skin. And factors such as age or skin color don’t matter with CIT as they do with some cosmetic procedures. This treatment will not be appropriate for clients on blood thinners and those who have certain medical conditions. The only side effect is a very happy one, as you feel your skin tighten and recapture a youthful loveliness.
